4 Years of Marriage

Happy 4th Anniversary to us!!!

Thanks to my mom coming and watching Judson, we were able to get away for a night on our anniversary to the Southmoreland Inn in Kansas City.  We went there at the 6 month mark of our marriage and have always wanted to go back.  It is right by the Plaza in KC, so we enjoyed quite a bit of time walking around the Plaza and doing a little shopping and LOTS of browsing.  Of course, eating was one of our favorite parts too.  We both got pretty giddy looking forward to the breakfast at Southmoreland Inn.  We were not disappointed either.

Here we are VERY ready to go and enjoy some much needed ALONE time together.

We have arrived!

We stayed in the "Leroy Satchel Paige" room.

We spent some time settling in and giving each other the cards we had wrote for each other.  Matt forgot his but did a good job verbally telling me what he said.  I really, really liked hearing him tell me what was on his heart, so we might have to make a tradition of reciting verbally our cards to each other.

After our downtime we went downstairs for some appetizers.  Buffalo blue cheese dip and wine.

Then we hit the Plaza!

Yes, Matt does have fun shopping with me.  ;)

We then had dinner at Chaz on the Plaza.

We split some sort of steak and mac n' cheese.

Matt of course loved the steak.......me the dessert!

We slept in and then headed downstairs to eat breakfast on the patio.  We were served croissant french toast filled with grilled peaches, topped with bourbon maple pecan sauce.  Along with that came a thick grilled pork chop and a strawberry mango frappe.  It was phenomenal and memorable!!!

Overall, I think my favorite part of celebrating our anniversary together is reflecting on the year/s past and seeing how God has grown us and changed us.  On our way down to KC we both privately rated our years from best to worst.  We then shared them with each other and our orders matched.  We are definitely on the same page!  It went like this: Year 4, 2, 1, 3.  Very interesting order I think.  We are hoping to break the pattern of harder year, better year, harder year, better year and come away with year 5 being a better year.  Either way though, God is going to give us the grace to overcome whatever His plan and desire for us this year is.  It has been the rougher years that we have learned the most about ourselves, each other, and God's desire for our lives.  As each year passes we learn more and more how imperfect each other is, but it is through that realization that we learn how to love each other more through forgiveness.  God was pretty smart in how He created marriage to sanctify us!

Praise You God for these past 4 years of marriage!!!
