Baseball Date

We missed our monthly date last month due to my poor schedule planning and a busy month, but it's ok.  The reality of life is that things don't usually ever go as planned.  So we'll roll with that and it will just be a planned date to save for the future.

This month I had planned a baseball date for Matt and me.  No, I did not take him to a Royal's game.  My plan was to hook up a TV on our new deck and watch the Royals game outside.  With my tech-ish skills that did not happen.  =)

Judson and I started out the date by surprising Matt at work with a "ticket stub" to our date night and a smoothie.  Matt got home later that afternoon and we grilled some ballpark hot dogs and enjoyed dinner out on our deck.  We then threw a baseball around for awhile.  Matt attempted to get the game going on his computer, but our internet was misbehaving.  While Matt fiddled with that I pulled out a little baseball trivia game in which Matt surprised me and knew almost all the answers.  I had no idea he was such a baseball expert!  IMPRESSIVE!  We then went on a walk and listened to the game from Matt's phone.  The Royals won the game which was a nice added bonus to the evening!

We needed a night of intentional time together, so I was thankful for this laid-back date idea.  It is fun to have someone to date be married to the only one I want to date!

Life At 6 Months

Judson has gotten so cute and fun.  As each month passes and he grows and grows and GROWS we look back at past pictures of him and wonder how someone can grow more cute with each month that passes.  He rolls over all ways and even gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth.  He is also starting to sit by himself for awhile before tipping over.  He continues to teeth like a mad machine with 6 teeth coming in.  4 on the top and 2 on the bottom.  He is full of smiles and giggles and is starting to really have an option about life.  We just have to laugh under our breath when he throws a fit because we are done reading books before bed.  His lip goes to the floor and he reaches and reaches for the books as we transition him to his bed.  He is a very observant little boy and loves to watch anyone and everything.

Wearing daddy's Royals hat trying to be just like him.

We started eating some baby cereal.  He really likes the spoon and even reaches out and helps us put it in his mouth.

This pictures makes him look like such a big boy.  CRAZY!

Here he is practicing his sitting.

We stayed at grandma's this month for a few days while grandpa and Matt were gone.  We decided to go on a walk.  Judson can already wear 4T.  Haha.

He loved the little umbrella stroller and looking around the countryside.

His hair on top is finally growing back.  His natural mow-hawk that he had as a newborn is back (except now Kait forms it that way....).

It's fun to capture pictures when his tooth is hanging out.  Pretty soon we will be seeing a few more along with that one.

Judson loves to be on the floor and is learning fast how to scoot along to get what he wants.

Mommy and Judson just hanging out on a beautiful day.

Check out the teeth!

Judson has been a big help in breaking in our new deck.  He even got his first tiny tan here.

Wiped out after a night with our small group.

Here are some pictures of what the little guy is like waking up from a nap.

Judson has changed so much this 6th month of his life.  We are excited to see what month 7 brings!  His baby stage is going by so fast.  Yes, it is a little sad, but with each growth and progression he makes our love for him grows even greater.

Deck Project

When we moved into our home almost 4 years ago one of the first projects we did was tear off the rotten deck.  We were sad to see it go because we knew it would be some time before we added on a new deck.  There was no saving the dangerous thing.  Ever since then Matt has dreamed about putting a deck back on our home.  I did too want a deck, but the deck was a few projects down on my list of home improvements.

About a month ago we decided to go ahead with the deck project.  It took longer than anticipated due to material delays, but it is finally finished!  We have been in our backyard 10x more than normal and now I understand why every spring Matt would talk about having a deck.  =)

Here is a picture of the old deck we tore off when we first bought our house.

Here is the new deck in the works!

It is FINISHED!

Judson likes the deck due to the fact that now he gets to be outside more.

Quincy Time

My oldest sister Ashley and her family visited my mom last weekend, so we decided to join then in Quincy.  Since they live in Wisconsin we couldn't pass up the opportunity of seeing them when they were going to be only 4 hours from us.  We had a great time, and Matt got to meet Victoria (Tori), the newest addition to the Sauder family.

Great Grandma Hoerr came to see us and the kids.

Here we have a very proud Nana!  It was special for my mom to be with all 4 of her grandkids.

Kid Energy + Beautiful Day = PARK!

Judson's first time down a slide.  He was pretty happy about it.

We decided to go on a walk to burn some more kid energy off.

After the park Nana and Reuben took a much needed nap together.

For Saturday morning breakfast one of my old Quincy friends Kourtney and hubby Derek came for breakfast.  I loved seeing them and wish Matt and I could do more with them.  However, I am thankful for the time in my past where she played such an encouraging role spiritually in my life.  Kourt was one of the most impactful friends that showed me what having a true love for Jesus really looked like.

It was a quick few days together but restful.  I love being with my family.  Even though we drive each other crazy sometimes with our imperfections there is always grace to meet those imperfections.

Love you family!
