Battling the Grumps

Today I read an article that was very convicting to me on my attitude of grumpiness/bad mood and the sin that it is.  It really spoke to me and convicted me when struggling with a bad mood to not be ok with myself staying in my bad mood because IT IS SIN.  So many times I feel justified to stay in a bad mood because I feel wronged by someone, life is hard and not going my way, I am just plain bored, or I am struggling with depression or a combination of all all those reasons plus some.  That is not ok though, and it is not ok because when I give in to letting my bad mood fester I am sinning.  How can I battle my bad moods?  THE GOSPEL!

"Reminding yourself of the Gospel is the ultimate reality check." -Tim Challies

Here is the article.  I am going to tuck this one away so that the next time I have an ugly, sinful mood I can pull it out!

Les Miserables & Greek Pizza Girls Night

Kim and Amity came to Sabetha this week for a few days, so of course, all of us girls had to get all together.  We meet in the "backroom" last night and watched Les Mis and ate homemade Greek pizza (thanks to Kim's found recipe).

Thank you grandpa and hubbies for watching the kids.  I feel spoiled by Matt with his continual encouragement and support to get rest and rejuvenation as a mom/woman.

March Birthdays

This past Saturday I spend the day with these girls in Topeka.  They all have March birthdays and for the past few years have planned a getaway day together.  They invited me to come along this year because my birthday is in March.  I was excited to go and get to know them better, because I really only knew 1 of them well.  We spend the day shopping, eating, talking, shopping, eating, movie, talking, eating, talking!

Thanks for inviting me girls!  I'm excited now to spend more time with each of you!

Date Night #2: Couple's Cafe

February ended up to be a very busy month for us.  My preplanned monthly date was supposed to happen on Valentine's Day, but Matt ended up being out of town over Valentine's Day.  I thought, no big deal, we will just do our date night sometime later in the month.  Well, the last week of February rolled around before I knew it, so we snuck our date night in on the last day of the month.  It was good timing too, because Matt and I spent too much time away from each other over the month of February.  It was a good way to kick start a weekend of just catching up and spending time together.

We had a fun evening of dinner at the cafe (living room :)), playing baker and making a dessert together, playing a game, and then ending our evening cuddling up to a movie.

Here is our cozy cafe.

The cafe served cafeteria style.

Ready to dig in and enjoy.

I printed off some fun questions and put them in the yellow bowl.  We took turns throughout dinner picking out a question and having the other answer.

Judson jump-a-roo was a nice babysitter during dinner.

He seems to love it!

Time to bake some warm lemon pudding cakes!

Matt was such a good sport in wearing my old culinary school hat.

I pretty much adore him!

Here's our pudding cakes ready to go in the oven.

All baked and ready to eat.  YUM!

It was great to have intentional time at home together.  I love having fun with Matt.  He really does bring so much joy to my life!

Quick Cali Trip

Two weekends ago my mom met me at the Kansas City airport to fly to San Diego for my cousin Brittney's wedding.  We left on a Friday morning and came back Monday, so it was a quick trip.  I was thankful to have my mom fly with me to help with Judson.  He did great traveling!  My whole family was going to be in Cali except for Matt and Chase.  It was fun to be together, and I will I could have taken more pics of them all!

Here are a few pictures from our trip.  =)

I thought I had packed pretty light until I saw my mom's bag........

Judson and I waiting for the plane in Kansas City.

Nana and Judson taking a nap on the plane.

Layover in Denver.  Judson took great little naps the whole trip.

He even snuck one in on the airport floor with Nana.

It was great to see my sisters (sorry I got not pictures of you Aubs!).

Our friend Joy took us to the mall for some goofing off/catching up time.

At Deka and Peggy's house for a Jev breakfast.

My mom, Alex, and I stayed at our friend Linda's house.  Her and hubby Nikki were great hosts, and it was fun to see their house.

Judson finally gets to see sun and trees!  It's been took cold here in Kansas to spend much time outdoors.

Heading back home.

Ready to get home to husband and daddy Matt!

Bath Time=Fun Time

Judson has always really disliked bath time.  Matt and I  have always tackled bath time together because we just wanted to get it over as fast as possible!  Then one time he looked at the water and whimpered and looked up at my eyes to get some confirmation that everything was going to be ok.  He continued to whimper through that bath time, but the next time we put him in the tub he just laid there looking at us and even cracked a smile.  It's so fun to see Judson learn to trust us.  I'm also thankful for peaceful and even FUN bath times!

Dinner & Ping-Pong

After talking about it for over a year we finally went on a double date with Jason and Jessie last month.
We enjoyed dinner and conversation at Country Cabin then ventured over to church for a little ping-pong tournament.  Jessie and I were so close to beating the guys during our doubles match!  Jason and Matt, Jessie and I call a rematch!

Can't Have Better Friends Than These.....

Guys Lingering

A few weekends ago, Matt got the opportunity to go on a guys trip with all the Kaeb guys of the family.  Us Kaeb girls have done a weekend together twice in 2 years, so it was definitely time for us gals to let our guys go.  They chose to go to the Linger Conference in Dallas, Texas.

I got a call from Matt the night the conference ended and he couldn't stop telling me about it and all that God had worked in his heart through the Word.  It overjoyed me to hear him refreshed and more in awe of our God.  Over the past few weeks Matt has continued to share tidbits of his Linger experience with me.  It has been such a good example for me to see Matt come off a weekend filled to the brim with spiritual food and continue to feed off what God taught him and even feed me!  =)
