Over Memorial weekend we went with Jason and Maggi and mister Kyson to stay the weekend with Troy and Amity and kids. Jason and Maggi stayed through Saturday night while Matt and I stayed through Monday. The sad thing is is that I have no proof that Jason and Maggi were even there, because I didn't pull my camera out till Sunday, but I promise they were! =)
Saturday all the big guys spent most of the day around KC at a cousins bachelor party. That meant that us gals and the little boys had a full afternoon together. It was relaxing just hanging out and catching up with my sister-in-laws. I had spent quite a bit of time with Maggi and Amity on separate occasions, but it was a fun dynamic to have the 3 of us together.
Tristan and I got to go on a little aunt/niece date to the mall while I got my haircut. She patiently waited for me so after my haircut was finished I thought we needed some true girl time. We went to one of Tristan's favorite stores Justice to browse the latest fashions for a girl her age. She decided on a few bright, neon headbands for her and Maelyn. As we headed out the mall to the car we walked by a gelato shop..........let's just say we didn't make it past the shop without each holding a pretty hefty cup of gelato. I should have never tried it, because the next time Matt and I go to that mall I am going to start drooling the moment we walk through the doors remembering how delicious my gelato was!
Amity is always amazing in providing meals for us whenever we visit. Here we are (yes, I am there behind the camera) enjoying a Sunday afternoon grill-out.
Sunday evening T and M went to stay with their grandma for the night, so we got to double date +1 with Troy and Amity. PF Changs, you met our needs that night!
Not only did God give me a supper cool husband.........
but He gave me an awesome family to go with it! We love how our relationship with Troy and Amity has grown over the few years we have gotten to know them as a couple. Matt and I treasure the friendships we have with other couples that are transparent and Christ centered.
On Monday Matt and I took off to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. We have moved to the toddler stage of our marriage. =) We had a fun morning exploring the River Market and then spent the afternoon walking around Legends just enjoying being together. One of my highest love languages is quality time, so anytime it is just Matt and me I soak it up!!!
As you can see by this picture we truly are not beyond the toddler stage of our marriage! Haha, I do hope as we grow older we keep parts of our relationship young/fresh.
Thinking back over the past 2 years of our marriage makes me excited to jump into #3 with Matt. Although it has not always been an easy journey, I am blessed to be able to look back and see more clearly the things that God has taught us. My prayer for Matt and myself in this next year is that God would give us the help to respond more Christ-like in any tough situation that comes our way. Whether it is involving internal struggles inside our marriage or external situations outside of our marriage, my prayer is that we can bring more glory to God.
