Trip For 2

Nana Anna offered about a month ago to come and watch our kids while Matt and I went and spent a few days by ourselves.  When she offered I jumped on it and even decided that it would be fun to surprise Matt and whisk him away.  I searched and searched online and found a bed and breakfast in Pleasanton, KS called Cedar Crest Lodge.  It looked cozy and secluded and seemed like the perfect place to just go and relax and enjoy each other.  I booked our trip and even added a few romantic perks and afterwards realized that I had to keep the trip a secret from Matt for almost a month......I am not good at this part! =)

A few weeks into my secret I cracked halfway and told Matt that I was taking him somewhere at the end of the month.  I was too nervous about him having to be gone from work and even the money I spent without permission.  I guess we just haven't been married long enough for me to know how he would have responded at the time of action.  I know he would have been a good sport, but I'm thankful that I listened to the little voice in me that told me to give him a heads up.  I did, however, succeed in not telling him where we were going and what we were doing.  I think he was impressed with my planning......

We have arrived and were greeted with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in our room.

Of course, we needed to have a toast!

To my amazingly loving husband who shows me so much patience and forgiveness. =)

They had really sweet walking trails we got to explore.

For taking all our own pictures we didn't do too bad.

We found this little old chair in the woods on the trail.  Wish we would have spent more time sitting there because it was a beautiful spot.

I like to kiss him......=)

Here is a picture of our room.  It was soooo cozy!!!

The little kitchen.

Our hangout area.

The HUGE jacuzzi tub.

The first night they served us dinner in our room.  Probably the best meal we had.

The thing in the crust is steak with spinach and blue cheese wrapped in pastry dough.  They even served okra from their garden.  I had never had okra, but it was yummy!

God blessed us with 2 beautiful days.  I thought it would probably be too cold to do much outside, but it was perfect weather to walk the trails and cuddle up together in.

Headed out on our picnic lunch.

We found a good spot.

He looks like he is enjoying himself.....looks like my surprise is working. =)

Our picnic view.

Enjoying our last dinner there before we headed out in the morning.  Oh, and I never got any pictures of our breakfasts, but they were huge and delicious as well.

Overall, we definitely benefited from getting away from everything.  I love these refreshing times in our marriage that God uses to grow our flame for each other.

The Most Important Prayer for Our Kids

Matt and I have off and on prayed for God to bless us with children, and in a way that we really didn't expect He has given us 3 amazingly beautiful, sinful children.  Since getting kids my prayer life has changed from just asking God for children, to praying for the specific children He has placed in our care for the time being.  It has been a whole new experience learning how to pray for these little ones.  It has stretched my prayer life and has taught me more of wanting God to get glory through these kids instead of praying selfish prayers that He would move their hearts to behave and make my life easier.  I know God wants me to even ask Him the things that would make my mothering easier, but to also remember to think outside myself to my heavenly Father.  Too many times my prayers are focused on myself and my little world.  Thanks for your grace God and continue to help me move beyond myself!  Please work in K, P, and J's life in anyway to draw them to Yourself!

My brother-in-law Duane sent Matt and me this article on praying for your kids.  Please take the time to read it.
